Why do People collect Art?
If we don’t take into consideration the reason of prestige and growing price of the collection, another reason is love to art and to painters as well as to our own children who will inherit the collection some day. Why do people still paint? If you exclude fundamental reasons (such as earning money or spending free time) there still remain ephemeral reasons like ”attraction of space love, hearing of summons of future“. There remains love to space, to search and to overcoming.
The collection of Irina Stezhka includes works of present-living painters, heritage of famous European masters and of young artists. It is the interest to those difficultly defined things that unites all these people. Thanks to these things remains paintings lively and actual. Style and intuition of the collector are necessary conditions for the creation of any collection. The peculiarity of this situation is in the personality of the collector, in her big and and generous love not only to art but also to her certain friends (painters). This desire helps her to make wonders.

Зачем собирают картины?
Если отрешиться от соображений престижа,
растущей стоимости коллекции и пр., то причина –
любовь. К искусству, к художникам. К своим детям-
наследникам, наконец. Почему люди все еще пишут картины? Если исключить фундаментальные причины (надо как-то зарабатывать деньги, надо чем-то заполнитьдосуг) – остаются мотивы эфемерные, типа, «привлечь к себе любовь простр анства, услышать будущего зов». Остается любовь - к пространству, поиску, преодолению.
Собрание Ирины Стежки включает работы ныне
живущих художников и наследие, мастеров с
европейской и мировой известностью и молодежь.
Всех их объединяет интерес к тем трудно определимым вещам, благодаря которым живопись продолжает оставаться делом живым и насущным. Вкус, чувство собирателя – необходимые условия создания любой
коллекции. Уникальность этой ситуации – в личности коллекционера, ее большой и бескорыстной любви не только к искусству, но и к конкретным друзьям-художникам. Эта страсть помогает ей совершать чудеса.
